I sat a long time with these flower essences, longer than usual at least. A kind of insecurity crept into me that kept me hesitant about starting to write. So I started researching more about each of the flowers. Some meaningful things came up, but I also knew the insecurity was indicative of what kind of states are in need of these essences. The driving essence seems to be Irlbachia Alata. I knew the least about this essence and it turns out to be a rather interesting one. It and gardenia are both pollinated at night; Irlbachia Alata exclusively and gardenia both day and night. In addition, Irlbachia Alata is pollinated by bats.
In my research, I came across an article about flower acoustics and how that plays a role in attracting bats as pollinators (article). These flowers tend to be bell-shaped, which Irlbachia Alata is. A certain amount of silence is needed to navigate and hear correctly. Otherwise, excess noise, whether natural or artificial, will interfere is with navigation.
The same is true of humans and our ability to navigate both internally and externally. When there is too much “noise,” we get distracted and may even follow these distractions into a kind of self-betrayal or misalignment. This usually evokes a kind of shame response, which like I alluded to earlier, can look like hesitation or avoidance. It can be hard to admit when we have gone astray or misused our energy and as a result, we sometimes opt stay in avoidance. That kind of avoidance that keeps us locked in stagnation rather than silence, we enter a kind of freeze state with a constant “buzz” in the background. Irlbachia Alata guides us back to what really matters.

Gardenia opens us to a true silence, the kind that feels spacious, like walking into a holy place and without a word, we find ourselves again. The constant “buzz” in the background fades. Your inner compass can speak to you and guide you softly and instinctively.
And the true test of our integrity lays in holding it in our relationship with others. Our ability to engage sincerely with warmth requires a kind of self-regard and self-regulation of our insecurities. We do not need to be perfect. In fact, the drive to be perfect or portray ourselves as such is what causes us to step out of integrity. And we also do not have to “bare all” in order to justify our willingness to be real or authentic. All we have to do is listen, with each step and each interaction, listen to your inner-guide, who will keep you aligned with your true desires and values while navigating your insecurities with courage and honor.
